The Iverk show is going green
Bernadette Moloney of Kilkenny County Council joined forces with the Iverk Show – the oldest agricultural show in Ireland – to introduce steps to green this event. Bernadette is the Environmental Awareness Officer for the county and helped the show, based in Piltown Co Kilkenny, to reduce their waste management costs. Under the EPA’s Local Authority Prevention Network (LAPN) programme Bernadette worked with food vendors to help prevent waste and introduced reusable bags for trade stands to limit disposable bags.
“Visiting officials were impressed beyond doubt with the efficiencies and standards of cleanliness achieved at Iverk due to the ‘Going Green’ initiatives” – John Burke Field Manager of the Iverk Show.
