Green Carlow

Carlow County Council is working with several festivals and shows in the county including the Éigse Carlow Arts Festival and the Pan Celtic Festival to help green these events.

The Éigse Carlow Arts Festival takes place each summer with a wide programme across a range of venues. The week long festival includes music events, exhibitions, workshops, talks, theatre, films, and comedy as well as a schools programme.

The Pan Celtic Festival celebrates the celtic cultures of Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Cornwall, Brittany and the Isle of Man and takes place each Spring. The festival includes traditional music sessions, music and dance workshops, exhibitions, céilí, a song contest, a food & craft market, a parade, and a big gig on the final weekend.

Work carried out to green these events includes environmental reviews and training workshops for businesses. Such businesses sign up to a simple 10 step plan, receive an assessment to look for cost reductions in energy waste and water, and can become a “Member of Green Carlow”.
