Midleton Food Festival 2011

Midleton Food Festival attracts over 15,000 visitors to its 1 day event in East Cork.

The festival is a celebration of locally produced fare with food stalls, a farmers market, street entertainment, craft exhibitions and much more.

Cork County Councli became involved with helping to green the festival in 2011.

Volunteers were recruited to help with on-street waste segregation. Rates of waste being diverted for composting and recycling went from zero, prior to greening, to 41%.

Stallholders were invited to become Green Members. A Sustainability Award  for the best in show was awarded,  based on declarations on sustainable  practices.
