Sherkin Island Marina

Sherkin Island lies in Roaringwater Bay in West Cork. A major attraction on the island is the Seahorse Marina which provides facilities for the seafarer which include mooring, electricity, water, food and refreshment at The Islander’s Rest.

Sherkin Marina is one of two private marinas in West Cork piloting the Local Authority Waste Prevention Programme clean marinas initiative. The initiative aims to introduce sustainable and best environmental practice for boat users including segregation of waste, water conservation, and oil pollution prevention. The long-term intention would be achieving Blue Flag status.

Cork County Council, the EPA, the Baltimore Harbour Board, and Sherkin Island Marina came together for this initiative.
