Barrowfest/Carlow County Fleadh

Barrowfest/Carlow County Fleadh, 24th – 26th May, 2103 is going green this year in cooperation with Carlow County Council.

The beautiful village of Leighlinbridge is home to the Carlow County Fleadh and Barrowfest which runs from 24th – 26th May 2013. Carlow County Council are helping the organisers of this community festival to begin greening the event in 2013. The event comprises a range of activities to suit everyone including a Cocert, Fleadh Competitions, Sean-Nos Dance Workshops, Singing Workshops, Barrow Music Stage, Floral Music Celebration in Arboretum, Festival Parade and a Traditional Music BBQ.

The event organisers and local businesses will be making a special effort this year to minimise the environmental impact of the event.

Work underway with Carlow County Council to make the event cleaner and greener in 2013 includes:
– Better segregation of waste
– Preventing food waste at the BBQ
– Water conservation for permanent facilities such as cafes, restaurants & bars in the village
– Promoting sustainable transport to and from the festival
